The Quality Why fresh fish from us? The difference in our service is that it is bespoke. We have fish arriving daily from coast where we pick the best quality fresh fish to your order. We then prepare it to your specification, weighing the fish AFTER we have trimmed and boned it so you DO NOT PAY for waste! The fish is then packed on ice pads in foam lined boxes for mail order and in ice in strong polystyrene boxes for local deliveries. We will NEVER compromise on quality, if the fish is not top quality we will not buy. So, if we cannot fulfil your order we will let you know at the earliest opportunity or you can always give us an alternative when you order.
Ecological Policy The Fish - The protection of the ocean’s fish stocks is obviously very important to us. We provide fish that is in season, so for example we do not buy our own coastal water Plaice during March/April as it is spawning and then out of condition. Instead, during this time we will supply plaice from colder Icelandic waters were spawning is later. As a company we support ‘Tracefish’, a long term project aimed to establish international standards to ensure traceability of seafood from catcher to retailer, much like the meat industry has done. Our Packaging We have never been comfortable with the thought of using packaging material that ends up in landfill, so we use compostable polymer sheets instead of cellophane and absorbent liners made from non-GM corn starch. Both are approved for direct food contact and biodegrade. We recycle the polystyrene boxes as local customers leave them out to collect with their next delivery. Mail orders customers can return the foam liner packaging with special return bags provided.
