The Service We are a HOME DELIVERY SERVICE of fresh fish, best quality, hand picked and straight from the coast. We send the fresh fish NATIONWIDE by overnight courier. We have FREE delivery in some areas (see map of FREE delivery area).
The Quality Why fresh fish from us? The difference in our service is that it is bespoke. We have fish arriving daily from coast where we pick the best quality fresh fish to your order. We then prepare it to your specification, weighing the fish AFTER we have trimmed and boned it so you DO NOT PAY for waste! The fish is then packed on ice pads in foam lined boxes for mail order and in ice in strong polystyrene boxes for local deliveries. Mail order customers can return the foam liners in special return bags supplied with their delivery.
The Company The company is based in Newport, Shropshire and owned by business partners Fiona Asson and John Perry. People ask us why a fish business in the middle of the country? There is a perception that really fresh fish can only be purchased from coastal retailers. Such retailers will have access to the fish landed in their area but this will not provide the range needed for their customers so they will obtain fish from ports all over, often it will have passed our doorstep on its way from Scotland! We are ideally placed in the country to supply the freshest fish. It is all about buying thr best, maintaining temperature control along the supply chain and NOT holding stock.
The Team Here at Fish In A Box we are always ready to help. Just email or phone us with any questions or queries you have about our fish, storing, preparing, cooking, we will always try to help.
As a small team we help out with the jobs to be done but we all specialise at something.
Our Fish And Sustainability, Updated may 2011
We care about which seas our fish comes from and how it is caught. The issue of sustainability is very complex and difficult for us, let alone consumers. We have always tried to provide extra information about the sourcing of our fish, such as which port it is landed, whether or not it is line caught and if it is day boat fish. You will notice that we are taking this a step further by providing additional information such as the sea that the fish is caught in, the method of fishing and therefore if it is approved by the Marine Conservation Society. We cannot always get this information but we are pushing our suppliers really hard to help us help you make the right choices. If you have any comments or questions about this issue or any other aspect of our service we would love to hear from you here
